Dade City council votes in ordinances to regulate Spring Break, They are setting a curfew for all residents younger than 50. A council member stated that you have to account for the students over traditional age and that was how they settled on 50 years old. After hundreds of college spring breakers descended on Dade city because of a hiccup in AI searches. The kids were asking them to book hotels in Miami-Dade and wound up with hotel rooms booked in Dade City. It seems to have conflated the Dades and sent spring breakers to an unexpected destination.
It was not a total loss for the spring breakers as many of them enjoyed their time in Dade City. Cindy, class of 2028 at FSU explained that she really enjoyed the downtown. She explained “there were several coffee shops to choose from and the cuisine was quite excellent.” Her friend Mandy exclaimed that they even enjoyed the beach at mirada lagoon.
Nate of the ADE fraternity at UCF wound up being invited to dinner by Granny Wallace.
“I met her at Tin Can Pams while shopping for Spam,” Nate said.
He had spent all of his money on hotel and gas so he was saving money on food. Granny saw what he was buying and offered him a home cooked meal. She said that she hated to see a young man going hungry as at that age he was building his body for the rest of his life and the eye candy was a plus for her. Nate enjoyed the meal and made plans to spend next spring break in Dade City.
Local resident Sue Wilson and AARP member said that at first she was quite put off by the invasion of the city, but over the week she found the youthful energy invigorating. Next year if AI figures out the glitch she said she might head up to Panama City.
