At the Tuesday, July 22, 2025 Hernando County Board of County Commissioners meeting, park consultants presented their findings on a recent study of local parks. The major finding of their $200,000 study of Hernando County’s parks was that to truly have first class parks exceeding the expectations of residents, they are going to have to spend much more on park consultants.

The lead consultant explained that it would take at least $1 million, no, $2 million dollars to determine what it would take to really determine what the parks need. In fact, if Hernando County wants world class parks, it would take significantly more consulting.

Currently, they are only able to create two dimensional models of the ideas in their heads, but if the county would spend appreciably more money on consulting, they can make three dimensional and even trailblaze four dimensional models that an assistant consultant stated were way cooler.

The assistant consultant explained that they never even discussed asking ChatGPT what it thought the parks needed. The lead consultant stated that would cost even more, since he would have to involve AI consultants. He said for $5 million, he thinks we could have a plan that harnesses AI to create synergy between the parks and the residents.
