Letter to the Editor: The county is growing pot in the swale in front of my house
I just noticed that the county is apparently growing pot in my swale. I see a three-foot-tall plant that looks an awful lot like a pot plant among the weeds in the swale in front of my house. I called Hernando County’s public works department to complain, but they said I am responsible for the maintenance of the swale.
I then reached out to the commissioners to complain that public works is shirking its duty to take care of the swale. They informed me that taking care of the swale was my responsibility, but the swale was technically their property.
I tried telling Jim, my neighbor, to take care of my yard, but he simply told me I was crazy. I told him it was his responsibility and he said, “You and who else are going to make me do that?”
I tried calling the Sheriff’s Office about the plant, but they treated me like a criminal. So I said my name was Jim. I have not seen Jim for a few days.
