On Tuesday several members of the newsroom were injured in a brawl of the Oxford Comma. The younger journalists were demanding that a comma be added before and and other conjunctions. The elder members of the staff were dead set against this blasphemy.
Journalist William Randolph was highly upset that Sissy brought up the inclusion of the comma and thrashed her thoroughly. He ended by exclaiming this is how he would treat the next person who asked about the Oxford Comma.
This led to words with intern Benji and a then there was bedlam in the newsroom. Staff was involved on both sides and eventually the Oxford antagonist turned tail and ran with the Oxford proponents in hot pursuit. The Oxford proponents Benji, Connie, and Sissy were victorious at days’ end.
One of my favorite pieces of punctuation, that Oxford Comma. Hail to the Victors!
