Pasco has unveiled a new plan to replace all trees in Pasco with palm trees. The county manager explained when people come to Florida they expect palm trees and beaches.

“We have had several complaints from tourists about the large oaks not being palm trees. We are working to correct this by making sure that tourists see what they expect,” the county manager said.

“The removal of the large historic oak at the historic courthouse is just the beginning. Once that tree is replaced with a palm tree we can move on to stage two of our plan and replace all the other oaks in the county.”

After all the oaks are replaced the county plans to move on to the next phase which is to make beaches. They have contracted with Metro development to convert all the bodies of water into crystal clear lagoons with beaches. This way the tourists will have the beaches and palm trees that they expect.

A major project on the radar is converting the Green Swamp to a beautiful crystal lagoon. Who wants to live by a musty old swamp, not newcomers. So converting it to a crystal lagoon is what the tourists want. The people a little down the river will get flooded way more often but that is Hernando’s problem.

Tourists don’t want moss covered oak trees, they want Florida the way it is in the movies: hotels, beaches, and palm trees. Pasco is working on making that a reality.
