Retired sportscaster and Spring Hill resident Howard Cosall has a new pastime, play-by-play reporting on his neighbor lady, Jerri Jones, walking her dog, Cowboy. Cowboy is a Welsh Pembroke Corgi with a mind of his own, named in honor of his cowherding ancestors.

Every day at 7:00 p.m., Jerri takes Cowboy for his nightly walk and Howard is on his porch to provide the play-by-play for his nightly podcast that has tens of dedicated followers.

Sunday, October 12th, was a memorable walk as Cowboy was in a particularly ornery mood. The walk started with Cowboy acting as if he had no legs, plopping down next to the road and forcing Jerri to stop and wait for him to decide to walk again. Howard felt this should have led to a delay of game being called on Cowboy.

Then Cowboy saw a deer ahead and sprinted, pulling Jerri behind him for a short distance, which is without question a false start.

His dexterity and lateral movement were on display when, a little while later, a dragonfly flew by. Cowboy flipped and nipped at the dragonfly with little success.

This athletic display was excitedly described by Howard. His listeners would remember this play-by-play for a lifetime. He really captured the walk in colorful detail.
