Liam Worcester from New England was befuddled that the Florida Cracker Kitchen does not serve crackers. He explained to Not the Sun that he fully expected a cracker restaurant with homemade crackers like back home to go with his soup.
He was seeking fresh crackers and a New England Clam chowder, but sadly the name of the restaurant was misleading. He said he would even have settled for the fancier cousin and enjoyed a Manhattan Clam chowder, but instead he was faced with a menu without any chowder.
He ordered the Shrimp and Grits which he thoroughly enjoyed and plans to tell all his friends about when he returns from his vacation. In fact, he made a mental note to look up recipes for Shrimp and Grits when he returns home.
However, he was still a little upset over the misunderstanding around the name, so he did what any New Englander would do. He explained to his waitress how back home a restaurant named the Cracker would serve crackers and a good soup. The waitress tried to explain that the term Cracker comes from the sound the whip of the Florida cowboys made when they were herding cattle. Liam did not understand why anyone would want cowboys in their soup, especially with them being all dusty and sweaty.
He left a one star review with the comment that “they don’t have chowder.” He also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about false advertising.
