Anna, a local girl, spends her free time thrifting. She has found many wonderful items including a collectible Harry Potter Goblet of Fire hardcopy edition. She mainly thrifts books and movies, but has expanded into records and other odds and ends.

Her sister Julia has found many of her clothes and accessories on these thrifting trips. Their father feels bad that she can only afford shirts that are too short to cover her belly. He commented that “I guess she is going for quantity over quality, since she does not seem to find shirts that fit her correctly.”

The sisters have several mini storage units to hold all of her finds. Anna remarked, “It is a great way to save money by going around and buying used items. Just today I saved hundreds of dollars.”

Her father has suggested counseling to help her to resist the urge to thrift. So far she has not admitted that she has a problem, which we all know is the first step to recovery.

“Thrifting at retail stores is where it’s at,” says Anna. “Nobody else is doing it, they’re just shopping, but I’m thrifting.”  She can find BOGOs and stack coupons like no one else.

The girls love to thrift and so far Anna estimates that she has saved $7 million dollars while only spending $1.5 million on thrifted items.
