A local seventeen year old girl plans to run for Hernando County Commission. She is requesting everyone’s vote in November, but she cannot count on her fellow seventeen year old, because they cannot vote. She will be 18 by the time she has to take office and has watched numerous teenage dramas, so she figures she is ready for the meetings.
She was explaining that girls math makes her more qualified than the current County commissioners. She elaborated “like I spent $100 at the thrift store so I saved like at least $200. Cuz it would have been at least that much more expensive if I bought it at the department store. I bought it with cash and that was already out of her account so it was basically free, since the money did not come out of her account.”
All of the current commissioners are men and older men at that. She remarked “I think they are all older than twenty, so they cannot relate to us younger people. Do they even like Kpop? Do they know how to make proper ramen? Have they gone to the HotPot?”
Her mother is very proud of her daughter. She was surprised she wanted to run because she had never been interested in politics. In fact she was really surprised because she doesn’t wake up before noon unless she is forced to and the meeting starts at nine. Her mother pondered if her daughter knew when the meetings started.
Spring Hill resident William, a teenage voter, said that he would definitely vote for her, since she was addressing issues that he felt were being missed. No one else is talking about Zooba (mobile phone game). He elucidated, “She is a clan leader, so she knows how to lead and get things done.”
