PHSC professor William Williamson has a negative rating on the site “rate my professor”. Many students are excited about taking his class because they’ve heard that no one understands anything he says and that no one has ever passed his class.
Sarah Smith commented that “the challenge was exhilarating. To think I have the chance to be the first person to ever pass his Astronomy course.” John Johnson exclaimed that he was “dreading taking Physics again. This was his second time, as he failed the class his first time.
He also is the only professor in his department so kids have to take his classes. He teaches a number of the hard sciences, so if the kids are taking a STEM path they have no other choice.
Professor Williamson explained that he did not set out to be a bad teacher. He just dislikes others and never really understood the subjects himself. I just mumble, so they have no idea what I am talking about. This keeps people from realizing I have no idea what I am talking about.
In fact he did not want to be a professor; he just found out that he was not able to find a job as an astrophysicist. He went on to remark that “the Jet Propulsion laboratory receives hundreds of resumes for each opening and many of those people actually understood some of the stuff from their classes.” I was lucky to find a job where I could make use of my degree.
